Sneak Preview: ‘I’m in Love,’ Teenage Fanclub

teenage fanclub i'm in love

Just as I write yet another post about Teenage Fanclub, word comes that they’re releasing their first album in six years.

Entitled “Here,” the new album is due Sept. 9 and is available for pre-order at http://teenage-fanclub.tmstor.es/. Americans pre-order at https://www.mergerecords.com/teenage-fanclub-here.

I’ve already ordered mine and gotten a T-shirt with it (as if I needed another T-shirt). The T-shirts are already being shipped, but we’ll have to wait for the album until September. To whet your appetite, here’s the first single and opening cut, “I’m in Love.”

The song opens with the jangly guitars but quickly breaks into a soothing melody from lead singer Norman Blake. The chorus is also recognizable, with the trademark Teenage Fanclub harmonies as they sing, “It feels good with you next to me / That’s enough, that’s enough / This is not such a mystery/ I’m in love.”

It’s a simple concept, a simple melody. And if the opening track is any indication, we’re in for a great album.
